Announcements
For Sunday March 22, 2015

Happy Birthday to our March celebrants: Teri Garrett (3/8), Jean Rigod (3/8), Anthony Farrington (3/10), and Lora Hudson (3/14).

Sign up on the bulletin board in Carey Hall to donate Easter lilies to decorate the altar on Easter Day.  Suggested donation is $10.00 each.

Please sign up on the bulletin board in Carey Hall to host Sunday social hour.

As part of the Lenten discipline of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, please consider offerings of nonperishable foods or monetary donations for the Food Closet. Donations of tuna, pasta and sauce, oatmeal, and other nutritious items are best.  As we continue our outreach to the needy in our community, your donations are always appreciated and needed to sustain this vital service.

Have you been playing Lent Madness, the daily readings about lives of Anglicans who are now among the saints? If you have not already received your Saintly Scorecard booklet where the readings can be found, we have copies you can pick up. The readings can also be found at LentMadness.org, a website where you can vote for your favorite saint in an online "play off" modeled on Basketball's March Madness. The winner, announced on April 1st, receives "The Golden Halo."  Past winners have included Charles Wesley, Frances Perkins, Mary Magdalene, CS Lewis, and George Herbert.  A video on the website explains how to vote.  Whether or not you choose to explore the website, please pick up a booklet.

The Thrift Store is being spruced up with paint and new flooring.  The Grand Reopening will take place towards the end of this month.  Stay turned for updates as the work progresses.

“Focus on the mission; stay together; keep moving forward,

If you’re friendly, frequent thrift stores, and have an hour or two to share, perhaps you’re just the person to volunteer in St. John’s Thrift Shop.

“Volunteers are needed, especially to help sort the overstock,” said Nancy Carter, thrift shop manager. “Even an hour or two would be appreciated.”

If you’re interested, leave a message for Carter at (707) 900-1777.

The church thrift shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the corner of Clearlake Ave. and North Forbes Street in Lakeport.
